Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason was absent from the mini-reunion that brought Roger Waters and David Gilmour together for a short set the summer of 2010. The two played a benefit for the Hoping Foundation in England to a crowd of about 200. Nick said, “That particular event wasn’t right for a reformation of Pink Floyd. I said I would do it, but it was a charity event for suits, and it felt wrong to turn a small thing into a big deal just because British socialite Jemima Khan was in attendance.” The show took place at the home of her ex-husband, retired Pakistani cricket legend Imran Khan. Nick said, “Why play for a lot of posh totty instead of some of the other things we should save that up for – like a Live 8 type of thing?”
Now, Happy Tuesday.

Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason’s autobiography “Inside Out” says the late Syd Barrett always considered himself a painter before the Pink Floyd founder. Speaking at an exhibition of his canvases and letters, his sister Rosemary Breen said Syd could never understand why people put his success with Pink Floyd ahead of his art. Barrett died of cancer in 2006 at 60. “He was firstly an artist and secondly a musician. When people asked what he did, he always said, ’I’m an artist’, never ’I’m a musician.’”
