Drummer refused to play benefit

Posted on by skye.sylvain

Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason was absent from the mini-reunion that brought Roger Waters and David Gilmour together for a short set the summer of 2010. Speaking at an exhibition of his canvases and letters, his sister Rosemary Breen said Syd could never understand why people put his success with Pink Floyd ahead of his art. Barrett died of cancer in 2006 at 60. “He was firstly an artist and secondly a musician. When people asked what he did, he always said, ’I’m an artist’, never ’I’m a musician.’”
