Gwyneth Paltrow has prepared a January detox menu for her healthy eating website.
Writing in the goop newsletter, she said: “We love a good detox here at goop. We created detox recipes that won’t leave you feeling cold and hungry during the winter months, with guidance from a nutritionist.”
Detox tips: wear socks and slippers in the house, take hot baths, wear warm clothing indoors and out, and swap cold smoothies or juices for hot soup.
She says, “A winter detox allows us to harness our energy, hit reset on our food intake, and stay healthy and energized. We don’t need to wait for summer to feel and look our best.”
She helped put together a 3-day detox menu, that avoids dairy, gluten, shellfish, anything processed, soy, nightshades (potatoes, tomatoes, peppers and eggplant), condiments, sugar, alcohol, caffeine and soda.”
Start each day with a room temperature lemon water and herbal tea; chickpea, carrot or Miso soup for lunch and main meals of pan-steamed chicken and broccoli, coconut poached salmon or Quinoa stuffed Kabocha. Snacks include mixed seeds or walnut lentil Pâté.

Gwyneth Paltrow planned her Christmas shopping with Excel spreadsheets. Her son Moses is seven, and daughter Apple, nine. Her husband is Coldplay’s singer Chris Martin.
“I have a master list of people I need to get presents for. Work, kids, god kids, friends. I see on this Excel sheet what I’ve got – I’m a total nerd – what I got them last year, and the year before.”
“I start my Christmas shopping at least two months before. I like to get things personalized, my gifts usually require some advance time. I’m definitely a planner.”
“I’m a solo shopper; I don’t rope my friends into it. I spend a lot of time searching for things on the net after the kids go to bed. I also send Christmas cards. I just think it’s such a nice, warm time of year.”
