As someone who celebrates Christmas, and says 'Merry Christmas', I equally would not be offended to receive holiday greetings from other beliefs. I think that trying to fit everyone into one 'holiday box' does indeed omit the uniqueness of personal differences and Canada's diversity that could be celebrated instead of seen as offensive. I as born and raised in Canada, however I am a wiccan not a Christian. I celebrate Yule not Christmas, Yule if you are not familiar is the celebration of the Winter Solstice (usually Dec 21st) and the holiday that early Christians wanted the pagans to stop celebrating so they created Christmas on Dec 25th (by the way Jesus was born sometime in the spring or early summer). I don't understand why it is so difficult for people to say "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas", it expresses the same sentiment however it encompasses all of the holidays in the winter season. This allows everyone to feel included and that their beliefs are being respected not just the Christians.
