Green Day have cancelled all their scheduled live appearances for the remainder of 2012 and early 2013.
The announcement comes after Billie Joe Armstrong checked into a rehab clinic last month following an onstage meltdown. “Obviously the timing for this isn’t ideal, but Billie Joe’s well-being is our main concern,” Mike Dirnt said in a statement on the band’s website. “We are happy to say that Billie Joe is doing well, and we want to thank you all for the outpouring of support and well wishes that we have received, and we can’t wait to see you all again soon.??”
The band have also announced that the release of the third part of their album trilogy, ‘Tre!’ will be pushed forward to December 11, 2012. It was due on January 14, 2013.
The tour dates affected include their scheduled club tour of the US that was due to kick off in Seattle’s Paramount Theatre on September 26, finishing up in Tempe at the Marquee Theatre on December 10. In addition, they have pulled all appearances booked in for January and February 2013. Rescheduled dates will be announced shortly, according to a statement.
The second installment of Green Day’s ‘Uno!, Dos!, Tré!’ album trilogy is expected to be released as planned, with the second LP, ‘Dos!’ coming out on November 12.
