Bill Gates is hoping to do for toilets what he did for computers. Wait… a toilet that requires control, alt, delete to flush? Not exactly—the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation are hosting the “Reinvent The Toilet” fair in Seattle, a two day call-to-arms for a new toilet design.

Says Bill Gates, “4 out of 10 people don’t have a safe way to poop—that’s 2.6 billion.”

1.5 million children die each year due to severe diarrhea caused by poor sanitation because they lack the kind of toilets that affluent countries take for granted.
