Toronto R&B star Shawn Desman and his side-hawk hairdo made a major impression in 2002 with his self-titled album and the 2005 Juno-winning follow-up Back for More with the No. 1 hit, Let’s Go. He also appeared in the 2007 Canadian dance movie How She Move. Five years between records, a label change, and a new look, his third album Fresh arrived Aug. 3, 2010, featuring production by Random, a Swedish team whose credits include Miley Cyrus. “I don’t think I’ll ever take a break like that again, I think it was long overdue,” said Desman, now 29.  He’s another Canadian nominated for the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards.
