A group of dedicated fans in Jakarta made Lady Gaga cry with their flash mob video protesting the singer’s ban from Indonesia.
After Lady Gaga announced she was performing her “Born This Way Ball Tour” in Jakarta, her Indonesian fans – or Little Monsters – erupted with excitement. However, in the weeks before the Jakarta concert on June 3, an extremist religious group began a vocal protest of Lady Gaga and her message – even calling her a “devil worshipper.” The group made threats to intercept and harm Gaga on her trip from the airport. There were even reports that the extremists purchased 150 tickets to the concert and were prepared to cause a violent scene at the show.
Separate from the threats from the religious group, the Indonesian government also demanded the “Marry the Night” singer censor her tour. Throughout the whole situation, Gaga kept her 25 million Twitter followers updated on the situation.
In response to the threats, the Indonesian government refused to grant security clearance for the show, and it was cancelled. Although her fans in Jakarta were disappointed, they recognized the security risks and sent this message of support to “Mother Monster” via YouTube.
